Carlinghow Princess Royal School

Newsletter Issue 02 – 15th November 2016

Dear Parents/ Carers,

As we are all arriving and going home from school in the dark we are reminding our children about safety and would welcome your support. Children who bring scooters need to make sure that they provide a padlock (bicycles are not allowed).   Parents must inform the office if there any changes to home time arrangements especially after clubs.  Parking bays must be used correctly in our car park while we await the arrival of our new barrier system.

Can I please remind parents and carers that if they have any concerns about school or their child’s welfare they need In the first instance to talk to class teachers. We expect all members of the public to treat our staff with courtesy and politeness; anyone who is abusive will be asked to leave the premises.  We take seriously our open door policy and will always strive to address any concerns appropriately.

The children have enjoyed taking part in events held this term and we were really proud of the contribution our older pupils made to our Remembrance service. Our school’s council will be attending a tea party with our Governing body next week and will have opportunity to meet our new Chair of Governors Miss Sidat.  Miss Sidat will be introduced to the rest of the school at an assembly on Friday 25th November at 2:15pm to which parents are invited.

Children have been out in the community on various trips this term and have visited Eden Camp, Kirklees Light Railway and next week Year 3 will be visiting the National Railway Museum. These events are only able to take place due to the financial contributions made by parents and the PTA (Champions of Carlinghow).  I wish to thank you in advance for the money that you no doubt will spend if you are able to attend our Christmas Fayre on Thursday 8th December 3:00pm – 4:30pm, as these funds raised will also be used for the children’s benefit. If anybody would like to make a donation for the raffle or tombola, please hand in to the school office as these would be greatly appreciated.  Whilst sharing Christmas news you might like to know our secret Santa trolley will go around school on the 6th, 7th & 8th December, Children can bring £1.50 per present.

Our school closure dates are published on the school website and in the event of snow or poor weather resulting in an immediate closure this information will be broadcasted on the local radio stations and posted on the school website. We will of course endeavour to keep closures to an absolute minimum and put safety first.  In addition to the existing closure days I wish to alert you that school may close early on Friday 16th December at 1:30pm for staff training. Confirmation will be provided as soon as possible so that you can make arrangements for your children to be collected after school lunch.  There is a further half day closure for staff training still to be allocated towards the end of the year.
