Foundation Stage 1 (Nursery)

Foundation Stage One

Hello everyone and welcome to Foundation Stage 1’s area of the website.  Most people know us by the name of Nursery but our posh title is Foundation Stage 1!

There is  Miss McMeo (Teacher) in Nursery and

together with

Miss Squire and Mrs Wilkinson, Mrs Dipper and Mrs Smith (all fully qualified Nursery Nurses)

we make it a happy, safe and fun place for all the children.

Important information is displayed on the Parent/Carer information board but it will also be posted on here together with our half-termly newsletter.  Please make sure that every child has a changing bag in case of little accidents!

Topic this half term – Summer 1: ‘Life Cycles’ and ‘Planting and Growth’

Life Cycles.  We’ll be looking at the life cycles of a chicken, frog, butterfly and sunflower. We will be getting caterpillars in our classroom and we will be watching them closely as they change.

Planting and Growth.  We will be planting our own sunflower seeds and observe them as they grow.

Foundation Stage One Targets:

We have been working hard to set our learning targets.  We would also like all the children to be doing the following at home:

  • Reading/looking at books.
  • Writing our name and other words and holding our pencil.
  • Counting up to 6 objects.
  • Independently getting dressed and going to the toilet.
  • Sharing toys and tidying away – 2 of our important “British Values”.

Our rewards:

We have a pebble pot for good behaviour which we try and fill so we get a treat,

it could be a sticker or something nice to eat!

Important information is always displayed in the Nursery entrance foyer.

Please do take a look at our displays in the coat area which show our learning both in the 2 and 3 year old Nursery settings.

If you do have any questions please do speak to your child’s Key Person.

Session times:

Mornings 8.40 - 11.40

Afternoons 12.15 – 3.15
